We want to thank Miss Eva Palmer, of the Los Angeles Hungarian Consulate, who kicked off the concert and wished Miss Neszlenyi a happy birthday. May God bless everyone who donated for your kindness and generosity! All donations go to much needed repairs for our church.

Hungarian-born Judith Neszlenyi studied at the famous Franz Liszt Academy. After the tragic Hungarian Freedom Fight of 1956, she continued her studies with the best teachers in the United States and started concertizing with the famed Columbia Artist Management.

She lives in Pasadena and has been an Artist in Residence and professor at CSULA and other universities and institutions, giving master classes and adjudicating music competitions at all levels. Through her "Pearls of Classics" programs, she has presented concert tours on four continents. Her diversified talent shows in her compositions: Requiem, Cantata, a Musical, vocal and instrumental works. She has also written numerous articles in both languages, as well as books of poetry and prose.

In 2006, she received the Grand Cross of Merit in Music from the Hungarian Government, among other well-deserved awards for her devotion to the arts. In 1990, with Geraldine Keeling, she founded the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, which is presented biennially in November and is now carried on by Dr. Katherine Saltzer Hickey and Dr. Éva Polgár. In 2010, she established a yearly scholarship in memory of her son at the Liszt Academy in Budapest for a gifted composition student.

This concert presents the very first complete performance of "Ruralia Hungarica" in Los Angeles, Maestro Ernő Dohnányi's flagship composition for piano solo.  

Ms. Neszlenyi sincerely admires the First Hungarian Reformed Church for sustaining such an unending cultural life for the community, in the Christian spirit of love.
