Not only are we having our Christmas Program and Party this Sunday, but we are also celebrating several December birthdays - our Pastor Zoltan Batori's 60th birthday, and also Tunde Bacsa's.
Please be sure and come, especially if we have not seen you in a while. Bring your friends and family - kids, grandkids, grandparents, parents, sisters, brothers and more! For the kids we will have a Crafts Table, everyone will enjoy good food and cheer, and you also get to celebrate a once in a lifetime event in the lives of Pastor Batori and good friend Tunde Bacsa.... in addition to the birthday of the Baby Jesus! Santa might make an appearance....most definitely his elves will be there for sure!
Take this Sunday and join us, especially if we have not seen each other in a while. It will be good to see each other and celebrate together!

Kedves Egyháztagok és Hűséges Barátok!
Közeledik a Karácsony, mely a kereszténység egyik legjelesebb ünnepe. Kit - mit - ünnepelünk Karácsonykor? A "kis Jézuskát", vagy az emberré lett, önmagát megalázó Isten Fiát, aki azért alkotta világegyetemünket, hogy lénye lényegét, a "szeretetet" megélhesse rajtunk? Közösségünk a "szolgáló szeretet"ünnepére emlékezik! Isten Fia számunkra megmutatja az isteni uralkodás mikéntjét. Azt, hogy Ő nem kényszerrel, erőszakkal, hanem szolgáló szeretettel, alázattal, a szabad akarat maximális tiszteletben tartásával befolyásolja, határozza meg a világegyetem működését. Gondolj csak bele! A Mindenható, egy gyámoltalan újszülött testében születik közénk egy olyan világban, ahol Istentől idegenek uralkodnak választott népe felett, s ráadásul egy közember családjába. (Isten egy népet arra a célra választott ki, hogy jellemét, lénye lényegét bemutassa az emberiségnek.) Ez többszörös megalázkodást jelentett Isten Fiának! Mit tanulhatunk Isten ilyen döntéséből? Milyennek ismered meg Istent, Szent Fián keresztül? Kik a "keresztények" (Krisztus követői)? Milyeneknek kell lennünk, ha a felnőtt, önmagát feláldozó egykori újszülött követői szeretnénk lenni? Jöjj el közénk és elmélkedjünk együtt ezen a világegyetem legkülönlegesebb csodáján! Mi, a Los Angeles-i Első Magyar Református Egyház Krisztust követő közössége együtt ünnepeljük ezt. Ünnepelj velünk Te is! Hirdesd mindazoknak, akiket szeretsz a "legnagyobb szeretet" ünnepét! Boldog Karácsonyt!

Christmas - one of Christendom's most remarkable events is nearly here. Who - and what is it - that we celebrate at Christmas? Is it the Baby Jesus? Or the One who became human, the humble Son of God, who created our universe for the purpose that the essence of His being - Love may become alive in us? At this time of year, our Congregation celebrates the love found in service! It is through His Son that God reveals to us how He rules. He determines the workings of the universe - not through compulsion or violence - but by service, love, humility, and by His maximum respect of free will. Imagine that! The Almighty Jesus was born in the body of a helpless newborn into a world where humans who did not recognize God, reigned over His chosen people - and, moreover, into the family of a common man. (God chose one nation of people in order to present His character, the essence of His being, to humankind.) This meant multiple humiliations for His Son! So what was - and is God trying to teach us through this? Is it that you can get to know Him through Jesus? Or to get to know Christians (followers of Christ)? Or who it is that we need to be if we want to be followers of a self-sacrificing adult and a newborn? Come join us so we can ponder this most amazing miracle in the universe together! At this time of year, we, the congregation of the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Los Angeles, followers of God, celebrate this miracle. Celebrate with us, too! Let us all share the Greatest Love given to us - the gift of Jesus! May we all enjoy a truly Merry Christmas!
