Our Church, the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Los Angeles, is the oldest church of any denomination in the western United States! We are part of a group of Hungarians who came to Los Angeles in 1926 and we are celebrating our 100 Jubilee all year long, with a special worship on Nov. 8, this year! Please mark Nov. 8 on your calendar now. This month's presentation by Dr. Hickey is part of a monthly speaker series regarding our 100 Years. Dr Hickey will include 50+ year old historical pictures that have some of you, or your parents, grandparents, in them!
Dr. Hickey is currently the Head of the Music Dept. at the University of Redlands. She was our Choir Director back in the late 1960's. Her Grandfather, Rev. Antal Szabo, was our Pastor from 1946 - 1968. And Her mom, Margaret Saltzer, was our dedicated Chief Elder, Organist and church member for many decades. Dr. Hickey and her family and our church go back to our 1926 founding days.
